Smallwood by ColonelYeo Smallwood by ColonelYeo
Mechanical pencil: .7mm

The drawing bug didn't really hit me while I was on vacation.... except for this one time. I felt compelled to sit and draw out the lake and our boat.

This took me a while to do.... I'd say a few hours a day for 3 days. (There were a lot of distractions going on and work to do.)

I like how it came out. The lake was really calm and warm this past week. (Except for two cold days.) There were a ton of boaters and swimmers. My folks really seemed keen on this picture, and want to get it framed to hang up there. ^^;

My goodness wasnt it an utter b!*#$ to draw that boat? I too recently had to draw one, and lucky for me it wasn't as complicated as yours.
Mine was constructed of wood, but man do you need a lot of patience.
I don't know about you but it's almost like your rebuilding the whole damn thing.
Perspective and composition looks good and proper, my only advice is just keep drawing and see where it brings you brother.

To be honest, I had no real trouble with the boat. The part that gave me the most trouble was actually the background. Specifically, everything on the other shore. There was just SO much to take account of and try to fit in!

But yes, you're right. Every house, every window, every tree limb and silhouette... I might as well have rebuilt and grew all those things. :D

Thank you for the comment and the feedback! I really appreciate it, Dubu. :)

your welcome Colonel!
Hmm I agree about looking at the trees instead of the forest.
I get caught up in the details and pull hairs.
Just recently I find myself trying to embrace the phylosophy;
You either cry about it or laugh about it.
It's difficult but am trying.

Neat sketch, the details of the boat are nicely done. I would have written a critique if I was a bit more experienced.
